I am interested in the threshold of figurability, the moment when a mark begins to become a body, and when that recognition starts to disappear again.

Through layering, burial, erasure, and return, forms emerge from matter without being fully predetermined. Darkness is not a background, but a force that delays visibility. Like something familiar covered by darkness, or distant footsteps heard inside a cave, what cannot be fully seen can become more intensely present.

I am interested in this presence without possession. An image does not need to become completely visible in order to exist. Painting allows forms to appear, withdraw, and return to matter, leaving traces and remains behind.

I continue painting until the work reaches a threshold where almost nothing more can be lost.
